Local Philanthropy & Service
In addition to raising money and awareness for arthritis and related diseases, our sisters recognize the importance of giving back in many other ways.
AOII was founded on the promise to serve not only each other, but surrounding communities as well. We participate in projects and events that support our international philanthropy, arthritis research and the American Juvenile Arthritis Organization.
Facts About Arthritis
Arthritis is the number one cause of disability in the country, affecting over 50 million Americans. People of all ages, sexes, and races can have one of more than 100 different types of arthritis and related conditions. Juvenile arthritis affects nearly 300,000 children in the United States. There is currently no cure for arthritis.
Sisters for Soldiers
The Tau Mu chapter's local philanthropy is Sisters for Soldiers. We support, fundraise, and collect donations for military members at home and overseas.
Strike Out Arthritis
On an international level, Alpha Omicron Pi and the Arthritis Foundation have a partnership with the MLB. AOII Fraternity holds Strike Out Arthritis events with many major league baseball teams. Individual chapters hold their own Strike Out Arthritis events within their universities and communities.
